Kathy and her husband Steve moved to Maine and their “forever home” in Kennebunk in 2020. Kathy had just retired from her career as a Human Resources Specialist in 2019, and it was wonderful for the first few months — until COVID hit. They knew no one in the community, and stuck at home with nothing to do, Kathy knew she had find something that would challenge her. She had crocheted since she was a child, so how hard could knitting be? She jumped right in!

Fast forward a year and endless hours of youtube videos, and Kathy was ready to test out the marketplace. Husband Steve jumped on the bandwagon, and they showed their products at craft fairs and the Kennebunk Artisans Marketplace.
Kathy even started a knitting group!

During the 2022 holiday season, they partnered with a local shop to exclusively sell two popular Christmas Prelude designs. The response was nothing short of spectacular, giving them all the encouragement they needed to start KNIT HAPPENS by Kathy!

KNIT HAPPENS is based in Kennebunk and offers seasonal product lines of knitted hats, scarves, ear warmers and holiday-themed products, including Christmas, Hannukah, Valentine’s and more. Steve also makes custom crafts, such as hand-carved buoy earrings and seashell garden flowers.

All of their products are made with love and creativity with an entrepreneurial spirit and a personal joy of serving and helping people in our communities, here in Kennebunk and out of town.

Our goal? Making YOU look good while staying warm!
